What Makes Us Special
Cragin is an Opening Minds through the Arts Gold school, which means that it uses an arts-integrated curriculum at each grade level to advance learning in all areas. This approach is based on extensive study indicating that children with frequent access to the arts also have increased math and reading scores.

At Cragin, all children learn in a positive, supportive environment. They are taught to think and problem-solve, to communicate and to function sensitively and successfully in a complex, changing and culturally diverse world. The mission of Cragin Elementary School, in partnership with parents and the Cragin community, is to “assure each student receives an engaging, rigorous and comprehensive education.”

Cragin supports children before and after school as well. Its 21st Century Community Learning Center program includes enrichment activities including gardening, quilting, Si Se Puede, tennis, golf, cheer, and Girl Scouts.
